Abstract

The thesis is entitled: “The land and building status owned by the Indonesian citizens post independence of Democratic Republic of Timor-Leste”.The research was aimed at 1) knowing how lands and buildings status owned by the personal Indonesian citizens post- independence of the Republic of DemocraticTimor-Leste and 2) knowing whether the lands and buildings owned by República Democrática de Timor- Leste accompanied with an amount of compensation, 3) knowing what constraints of the Indonesian citizens got in running their lands and buildings status. . This is a type of empirical law research using the qualitative method. The data consist of the primary, secondary and tertiary law materials The data were collected by interviews and documents and a library study. All data the primary, secondary and tertiary data werequalitatively analyzed. The theory of succession was used as a base and study of analysis. The result showed that the land and buildings of the personal Indonesian citizens located in Timor-Leste are currently owned by the Timor Leste Government.However, the Government of Timor Leste does not have land regulations dealing with the unmovable assets owned by the Indonesian citizens who once stayed in Timor Leste.
