Abstract

The agricultural sector plays an important role in the growth of various aspects of life in Indonesia. The benefits of the agricultural sector are seen as no more profitable than the non-agricultural sector for farmers. The change in the conversion of agricultural land has occurred massively, which has harmed the subjects and objects of agriculture in the Sleman Regency. This study aims to identify the prediction of changes in agricultural land into built-up land in a time series. The research method uses a mixed method, which is quantitative through the collaboration of remote sensing and classification modeling, as well as qualitative related to the factors of conversion of agricultural land. The results show that builtup land has increased by 195.389%, rice fields have decreased by 60.990%, plantations/fields have decreased by 16.420%, waters have decreased by 11.348%, and forests have stagnated from 2003-2043. Various factors of land conversion occur due to the need for stakeholders to seek profits in Sleman Regency, which is famous for tourism and education. This condition has resulted in a decrease in agricultural productivity, farmers, and the environment. Efforts have been made by stakeholders through spatial regulation, empowerment and incentives for farmers, and the development of agricultural infrastructure. The application of spatial analysis to determine land use in a time series and the typology of controlling the conversion of agricultural land can be a reference for similar activities in other regions.
