Abstract
The province of Yogyakarta Special Region is an area that has a suburban village as an intermediary between the city and the village. The rapid development of the city and the number of residents demands the rapid growth of the sub-urban area of Yogyakarta Special Region. This has led to changes in the conversion of agricultural land to non-agricultural land functions that increase every year. This research intends to evaluate the impact of agricultural to non-agricultural land conversion in the suburban area of Yogyakarta, with field observations for interview sessions with resource persons to obtain information related to land conversion. The method used in this research is qualitative method. The research approach used is descriptive approach. The results showed that the land area that was converted was 0 ha - 285,128 ha with a total value of lost environmental service benefits of Rp. 14,323,255,000,000, consisting of direct use value of Rp. 5,432,255,000,000, indirect use value of Rp. 79,440,000, existence value of Rp. 947,000. Broadly speaking, this affects the lives of farmers so that government policies are needed against land conversion in order to create a quality of life with a sustainable environment.
