Abstract

The government has established various projects categorized as National Strategic Projects (PSN), aimed at fulfilling basic needs and improving community welfare. One of the PSN is the construction of the Bener Dam, which includes building an access road passing through Bener Village in Bener District, Purworejo Regency, Central Java Province. This land acquisition resulted in the loss of land owned by the community, prompting them to make decisions regarding this situation. Various social and economic impacts have emerged due to the land acquisition for the road construction project. This study aims to answer three research questions: (1) How does land acquisition affect the social conditions of the Bener Village community? (2) What are the economic impacts felt by the rightful parties and the affected community? (3) How does the community implement livelihood recovery post-land acquisition related to the social and economic impacts? The research method used is qualitative with a descriptive approach. Data collection was carried out through interviews, field observations, and document studies. The technique for collecting primary data is through interviews and observations, while secondary data is collected through literature and document studies. The primary data collected through interviews is aligned with predetermined indicators. The social condition indicators focus on housing quality, education, health, and community relationships. The economic condition indicators include employment, income, expenditure, and asset ownership. Data collection involved sources from rightful parties, affected community members, and Bener Village officials. The results of this study are: (1) Social impacts felt by the community include an increase in housing quality and education levels, although health and community relationships remain the same. (2) Economic impacts include a dominant increase in asset ownership, while employment, income, and expenditure remain relatively unchanged. (3) The community with limited assets tends to use survival strategies and consolidation, whereas those with higher assets choose accumulation strategies. Keywords: Access Road, Land Acquisition, Socio-Economic Impact
