Abstract

The continuous growth in population and urban development in Yogyakarta has significantly impacted the surrounding areas, including Kapanewon Gamping. As a result, urban areas like Kapanewon Gamping have experienced significant land-use changes, particularly the conversion of agricultural land, leading to a reduction in rice paddy fields. This study aims to analyze the conversion of rice paddy fields to non-agricultural land and the factors influencing this change in Kapanewon Gamping. The methodology used in this research is a mixed-method approach, combining quantitative methods with spatial analysis and qualitative methods with descriptive analysis. The results of this study indicate that in the past five years, the conversion of rice paddy fields has occurred as follows: 10.937 ha in Kalurahan Ambarketawang, 10.116 ha in Kalurahan Balecatur, 13.238 ha in Kalurahan Banyuraden, 11.380 ha in Kalurahan Nogotirto, and 14.887 ha in Kalurahan Trihanggo. The main factors driving the conversion of rice paddy fields in Kapanewon Gamping include urban development, economic growth, and population increase.
