Abstract

Population growth and increasing regional development present challenges in the availability of limited land, triggering conflicts of interest. Human needs for land continue to increase from year to year, while land area remains important, making spatial planning policies important to achieve optimal land use. The aims of this research are to: a) determine the type, area and distribution of changes in existing land use between 2019 and 2023 in BWP Kepanjen; b) determine the impact of changes in land use on food production in BWP Kepanjen; c) determine the suitability and potential for changes in land use between 2019 and 2023 to the RDTR BWP Kepanjen; and d) determine the potential impact of potential changes in land use during the validity of the RDTR BWP Kepanjen. The method used in this study is a qualitative method with a spatial approach. Data were collected through field observations, interviews and document studies. The results of this study are: a) Overall, the total change in land use in 2019-2023 was 922,161 m2. The type of land use activity that experienced many changes was wetland farming which was used in 2019 then changed the type of land use in 2023 with a total area of 390,540 m2 or 44% of the total land use changes. Changes in land use occurred throughout the BWP Kepanjen block with a clustered distribution; b) The reduction in agricultural land did not result in a decrease in rice food production; c) Suitability is divided into 5 classifications and potential is divided into 3 classifications; and d) potential impacts are divided into positive and negative.
