Abstract
The urban area usually has a high population growth due to high urbanization, which causes the spatial management of the city to become more complex. This is the case in Semarang City, where high population growth and the addition of residents every year affect the use of urban space and affect the availability of land and the existence of Green Open Space in urban areas. Therefore, this research analyzes the availability of green spaces in Tugu Sub-district using the Normalized Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI) method to analyze the availability of land as green open spaces by using Geographic Information System (GIS) technology. The method used in this research is mixed method. Mixed method combines two previously existing research methods, namely qualitative research and quantitative research. The results obtained in this study are an increase in the area of green open space in Tugu Sub-district of Semarang City from 2019 to 2023 by 19.8 Ha; the percentage of green open space in Tugu Sub-district only reached 19.5% of the area in Tugu Sub-district of Semarang City in 2023; there is a shortage of green open space in Tugu Sub-district amounting to 294.3 Ha; and there are some lands designated as green lanes and river borders that are used as built-up land by the surrounding community. Keywords: Land Availability, Green Open Space, and Normalized Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI) method.
