Abstract

The increasing population will certainly need public facilities to support life and encourage the economy. These public facilities cover various aspects of communities' lives, transportation is one of the basic needs to support the economy and society. National Strategic Projects are efforts made by the government and/or business entities to improve the economy and equitable regional development by acquiring land for the public purposes. One of the areas affected by land acquisition for public purposes is Marumpa Village, Marusu District, Maros Regency, namely the acquisition of land for railway transportation facilities. The existence of land acquisition will influence changes in the socio-economic conditions of the community. This research aims to analyze the socio-economic impacts arising from land acquisition. The method used in this research is a qualitative research method with descriptive analysis. Data was collected through interviews and document study. The research results show that land acquisition has a positive impact on society, namely a) Facilitating Inter-City Mobility; b) Efficient Transportation Costs; c) Improving the Economy of Surrounding Communities (Communities indirectly affected); d) Reducing Criminal Cases; e) Does not interfere with routine activities of communities; f) Increase the land value of surrounding communities. On the other hand, there are also negative impacts, namely a) Inappropriate Compensation Money; b) Affecting the jobs and income of affected communities (directly affected communities); c) Causing Disappointment in the Marumpa Community Due to the Lack of Recruitment of Workers in the Marumpa Community; d) Cancellation of New Settlement Development Planning Keywords : Impact of Land Acquisition, Socio-Economic Change, Railway Facilities
