Abstract

The construction of the Interchange Toll Road Indralaya - Prabumulih Toll Road aims to improve community welfare and regional economic growth. As society develops, the government needs large areas of land to accelerate development for the public interest. The government, through Law Number 2 of 2012 concerning Land Acquisition for Development in the Public Interest, can combine these two interests. Basically, this law aims to organize land acquisition by paying attention to the balance between development interests and community interests and the implementation of land acquisition for the public interest is carried out inseparable from physical and non-physical aspects. The physical aspect is usually related to the environment and the non-physical aspect is the social economy of the community. This research aims to identify changes in socio-economic conditions and the factors that influence them and determine the condition of the remaining agricultural land in the community. This research uses a qualitative method with a case study approach involving 12 informants selected purposively. The results of the research show that there are changes in conditions at the level of education and living conditions that are more appropriate but there is not much change in the community's social interaction activities. The majority of people who are entitled to continue to maintain their main job and some add side jobs which will affect their monthly income. Some people who are entitled to also add physical assets such as land and vehicles. The driving factors that influence this change include 1) contact with other cultures, 2) an advanced formal education system, 3) an open society system. Meanwhile, the inhibiting factors are: the customs or habits of the majority as an agricultural society. The declining condition of the community's remaining agricultural land is due to the reduction in water catchment areas, resulting in a decrease in the fertility of agricultural land which affects agricultural land productivity.
