Abstract

"Regional development has led to land use conversion, often resulting in changes that are inconsistent with regional and urban planning. This research employed a mixed methods approach, combining quantitative and spatial analyses. Bandung Regional Bylaw No. 25 of 2021 concerning the Regional Detailed Spatial Plan (RDTR) for BWP Bojongsoang from 2020 to 2039 has induced changes in land use. The study found that between 2019 and 2023, the most significant increase in land use in BWP Bojongsoang was in dense housing, which expanded by 54.38 hectares (21.62%) from a total area of 184.59 hectares. Meanwhile, sparse housing increased by 32.80 hectares (13.04%). Conversely, irrigated paddy fields decreased by 118.89 hectares (47.27%) and gardens by 6.88 hectares (2.74%) over the same period. The spatial pattern of land use changes in BWP Bojongsoang from 2019 to 2023 exhibited a clustered distribution, with a nearest neighbor index of T=0.432582. In terms of conformity with the RDTR, 1222.67 hectares (60.23%) were found to be suitable, 255.66 hectares (12.59%) were partially suitable, and 551.78 hectares (27.18%) were not suitable. Analysis of the potential for future land use changes revealed that 1478.35 hectares (72.82%) were unlikely to change as they were already in accordance with the RDTR, while 551.78 hectares (27.18%) had the potential to change in accordance with the RDTR. The conversion of agricultural land to non-agricultural land has the potential to impact the surrounding environment. Socioeconomically, the study found a potential shift in farmers' livelihoods and increased development, such as the construction of the Cikapayu River by developers to mitigate flooding. Other potential impacts include decreased agricultural production and a decline in land area. Additionally, the study found a potential increase in population due to migration, leading to increased waste generation and emissions. Environmentally, the conversion of agricultural land has reduced water absorption areas, increasing the risk of flooding." Key Words: Land use change, Compliance with RDTR (Regional Detailed Spatial Plan), Potential for land use change
