Abstract

The Glagah Beach border area is part of the protection zone in the Detailed Spatial Plan near Yogyakarta International Airport. This coastal border is meant to sustain the environment, but many permanent buildings threaten its sustainability. The coastal border, which should be an area to protect the area so that it remains sustainable, in reality there are many permanent buildings that have the potential to disrupt environmental sustainability. The aim of this research is to determine the suitability of land use, find out the efforts to control space use that have been carried out by the government, and find out the obstacles faced and their solutions. Using descriptive and qualitative methods, the study found that 5.66 hectares (10.61% of the zone) are improperly used. Government efforts include reviewing spatial plans and offering disincentives. Challenges include long-standing buildings, tourism as a key income source, and low public awareness of spatial regulations. Proposed solutions reorganizing accommodations, implementation of sustainable trade infrastructure, and public education to increase awareness. Keyword: control, utilization, beach border
