Abstract

Vital archives are archives whose existence is absolutely necessary for the continuity of an organization's operations. Vital archives cannot be renewed or replaced if damaged or lost. If the vital archives are damaged or lost, it can cause enormous losses for the organization. This is because damage or loss of vital archives will hamper the business and operational processes of the organization concerned. The purpose of this study is to determine the problems that arise in the management of vital archives and the strategies that can be used to overcome these problems. The method used in this study is a qualitative method. The results of this study are problems in the governance of vital archive management related to regulations governing vital archives at the Ministry of ATR/BPN, which only refer to the Regulation of the Head of ANRI. There are budgeting problems which are related to the facilities and infrastructure in each work unit, namely the limited budget for vital archive management. Facilities and infrastructure that are not yet in accordance with standards. As well as the problem of human resources who are not yet competent in managing vital archives at the Ministry of ATR/BPN. Based on the results of the study, the strategies that can be used for vital archive management at the Ministry of ATR/BPN are the need for standardization of vital archive management at the Ministry of ATR/BPN, conducting budget analysis based on needs or risks, providing sufficient storage space and in accordance with standards for storing vital archives, and providing training to HR related to vital archive management.
