Abstract

This research discusses the comparison of asset literacy between Millennials and Generation Z (Gen Z) in understanding land as an investment asset. Departs from the increasing value of land and the limited access of youth to land. This condition can hamper the regeneration of farmers, agribusiness actors and other economic actors based on productive and sustainable land utilization. This research uses a mixed method approach with quantitative data through surveys and qualitative data through interviews. The quantitative data analysis technique used is descriptive quantitative analysis, while for the qualitative data, thematic analysis is employed. The results showed that the level of asset literacy between the two generations was in the high category. Specifically, based on aspects of knowledge, attitude, and behavior, Millennials have a higher score than Gen Z. This indicates that Millennials are more likely to be asset literate. This indicates that Millennials are more aware and understand what investment assets to choose and are suitable to support financial planning in the future. In choosing investment instruments, Millennials tend to choose land and Gen Z prefers gold. This difference is based on asset literacy and demographic characteristics, as well as the investment motivation of each generation. Both generations have a similar understanding of land as an asset for long-term investment. They view land as an asset that tends to increase in value, can be inherited, and contributes to a better quality of life if managed sustainably.
