Abstract
This study aims to analyze the customary system of land inheritance and the kinship relations within the social structure of the Auyu Tribe, which adheres to a patrilineal system in Aboge Village, Assue District, Mappi Regency, South Papua Province. The primary focus is to reveal how land assets are passed down through the male lineage and how the kinship system influences land rights and social roles within the community. The research employs a qualitative approach, utilizing data collection methods such as direct observation, in-depth interviews, and document analysis. Findings indicate that land inheritance in the Auyu Tribe is governed by a strong patrilineal principle, where the eldest son holds the primary position as heir. However, in practice, there are complex social dynamics, including internal conflicts and the marginalization of women in terms of land ownership rights. These findings provide a comprehensive understanding of the importance of integrating local wisdom into land policy formulation, especially in regions where customary systems remain deeply rooted. Keywords: Land Inheritance, Patrilineal, Awyu Tribe, Kinship Relations, Customary System.
