Abstract
Infrastructure development has improved accessibility and driven regional growth in Prambanan District. Its strategic location on the border of Klaten Regency and Sleman Regency, as well as its role as a route to Prambanan Temple, has further accelerated land use change. This study aims to analyze changes in land use and changes in flood vulnerability levels between 2016 and 2025 and to examine the relationship between the two. This research employed a mixed method approach with spatial and statistical analysis. Spatial analysis was conducted using Geographic Information Systems (GIS) through overlay techniques involving slope, soil type, rainfall, land use, and river buffer parameters. Statistical analysis was performed using the Chi- Square test and Cramer’s V at a significance level (ɑ) 0.05 to determine the relationship between variables. The research results indicate that most of the area experienced no land use change (92.53%), with changes to built-up land (5.41%) and non-built-up land (2.06%). Flood susceptibility tended to increase, as indicated by the expansion of the moderate (+24.06 ha) and high (+6.67 ha) susceptibility classes and the reduction of the low susceptibility class (25.87 ha). The spatial distribution of both land-use change and flood susceptibility change was dispersed. Spatial conformity analysis showed that 4.37% of the area was classified as conforming, 3.23% as non-conforming, and 92.39% as unchanged. The significance test revealed a significant relationship (Sig. < 0.05) with a very strong association (V > 0.25) between land use change and changes in flood susceptibility levels.
