Abstract

This study aims to analyze the changes in agricltural land use to built-up areas (tourism support facilities), to determine the factors causing land use changes, the socio-economic impact, and the suitability of spatial planning in Borobudur and Wanurejo Villages, Borobudur District, Magelang Regency. This study uses a descriptive method with a qualitative approach supported by limited quantitative data, through spatial analysis, field observations, data collection using questionnaires, interviews, and document analysis. The result show that changes in land use have occurred, dominated by the conversion of agricultural land to built-up areas (tourism support facilities) such as hotels, cafes, restaurant, villas, taourist attractions, and land being planned for business activities. Fourthermore, the pattern of land use changes in the study location tends to be concentrated in areas with adequate and easy accessibility and close to the Borobudur Temple tourist area. The main factors driving land use changes include the development of the tourism sector, population growth and population density, increasing economic needs, incresing land sales values, and changes in livelihoods. These land use changes also have an impact on the social and economic conditions of the community, such as changes in economic income and shifts in work activities.
