Abstract

This study examines the social and economic impacts of the construction of the Serang-Tambakrejo Coastal Segment of the Southern Cross Road (JLS) infrastructure in Blitar Regency. This development has transformed a previously unpaved village road into a 12.8-kilometer national-standard road connecting the southern coastal area with the city center. Specifically, this study aims to analyze the impact of development on social conditions, focusing on population mobility and social interaction. Furthermore, this study analyzes the economic impacts, including changes in livelihoods, income levels, and the emergence of new business opportunities for the local community. Finally, this study identifies factors contributing to the improvement of the social and economic conditions of the communities in Serang and Tambakrejo Villages. This study employs a descriptive qualitative approach. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, field observations, and documentation using a purposive sampling approach. Data collection techniques were conducted through in-depth interviews using a purposive sampling approach, field observations, and documentation studies. The results of this study are expected to provide an understanding of the balance between infrastructure progress and local community welfare, as well as serve as guidelines for the government in evaluating sustainable infrastructure development policies in the future.
