Abstract

The development of Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV)-based photogrammetry technology has increased the efficiency of aerial mapping activities. One factor influencing the quality of mapping results is the positioning method used, namely Post-Processing Kinematic (PPK) and Real-Time Kinematic (RTK). This study aims to analyze the differences in orthophoto accuracy levels produced using the PPK and RTK methods and to evaluate the effectiveness of both methods in terms of time and accuracy. The study was conducted in Fidy Jaya Village, Weda District, Central Halmahera Regency, North Maluku Province, using a comparative quantitative approach. Accuracy testing was conducted using 12 Independent Check Points (ICPs) spread across the study area in accordance with SNI 8202:2019. Horizontal accuracy analysis was performed using the Root Mean Square Error (RMSE) and Circular Error 90% (CE90) parameters. The results showed that the RTK method produced a horizontal accuracy (CE90) of 0.510 m, while the PPK method produced a CE90 of 0,618 m. Based on these results, the RTK method has a better level of accuracy than the PPK method. In terms of effectiveness, the RTK method is also superior because the aerial photo coordinates are corrected in real time, thus eliminating the need for additional processing. While the PPK method requires post-processing, which results in longer processing times. However, both methods fall short of the horizontal accuracy standard set in the 2025 PTSL Service Level Agreement (SLA), which requires a CE90 value of ≤ 0.40 m. This study concludes that the RTK method is a more effective method for aerial photo mapping at the study site in terms of accuracy and time efficiency. Keywords: UAV, RTK, PPK, Orthophoto.
