Abstract

The conversion of agricultural land into non-agricultural land is an important phenomenon in regional development, including in Ponorogo Regency. This land-use change affects not only the physical aspect of space but also the socio- economic conditions of the community, particularly farmers. This study aims to analyze the spatial distribution pattern of agricultural land conversion, examine the influence of land conversion on the socio-economic conditions of the community, and identify efforts to control agricultural land conversion in Ponorogo Regency. This research employed a mixed-method approach, combining quantitative and descriptive qualitative methods. Data were obtained through the interpretation of Sentinel satellite imagery from 2023 and 2025, spatial analysis using ArcGIS, document studies, and interviews with relevant stakeholders and affected communities. Quantitative analysis was conducted using multiple linear regression with farmer welfare, rice-field productivity, and population density as independent variables. The results show that agricultural land conversion in Ponorogo Regency tends to occur in areas with high accessibility, particularly around road networks and settlement areas. Simultaneously, farmer welfare, rice- field productivity, and population density have a significant influence on agricultural land conversion. The conversion of agricultural land has resulted in a reduction of cultivated land, changes in livelihoods, and increased pressure on settlement areas and infrastructure. Therefore, strengthening spatial-use control, protecting agricultural land, and improving farmer welfare are necessary to ensure sustainable land-use management.
