Abstract
The conversion of agricultural land into non-agricultural land has become one of the major issues resulting from population growth, infrastructure development, and the increasing demand for land to support various economic activities. This condition has the potential to reduce the area of productive agricultural land and adversely affect food security and environmental sustainability. This study aims to analyze the spatial distribution of agricultural land conversion into non-agricultural land in Ransiki District, South Manokwari Regency, during the period of 2017–2023, to examine its distribution pattern, and to identify the influence of population density and community income on land use changes. This study employed a mixed-methods approach by combining quantitative and qualitative methods. The data were collected through the interpretation of Sentinel-2 satellite imagery using ArcGIS, field observations, interviews, and secondary data obtained from Statistics Indonesia (BPS). The analysis was conducted using overlay techniques on land use maps from 2017 and 2023, The Average Nearest Neighbor (ANN) analysis to determine the spatial distribution pattern, and descriptive analysis of the interview data. The results indicate that agricultural land has been converted into residential areas, public facilities, and other non-agricultural land uses. Land conversion mainly occurred in areas with high accessibility and was influenced by population growth, infrastructure development, and the economic considerations of local communities. The Average Nearest Neighbor (ANN) analysis revealed that the spatial distribution pattern of land conversion is dispersed. These land use changes have reduced the extent of productive agricultural land, highlighting the need for effective land use control, sustainable agricultural land protection, and spatial planning policies to maintain a balance between regional development, environmental sustainability, and food security. Keywords: Agricultural Land Conversion, Non-Agricultural Land, Land Use Change, Ransiki District, South Manokwari Regency.
