Abstract
Population growth and regional development continue to increase but the limited availability of land will result in a clash of interests. This is because human needs for land will continue to grow, while land has a fixed area. For this reason, there is a need for harmony between land use and spatial planning policies in order to obtain optimal, harmonious and balanced land use. The objectives of this study are to: (a) to determine the type, extent, and distribution pattern of land use change in Diwek Urban Area; (b) to determine the suitability of land use change to the Detailed Spatial Plan for Diwek Urban Area; and (c) to determine the potential for land use change during the enactment of the RDTR for Diwek Urban Area. The method used in this research is a survey research method with a descriptive approach. The survey method was conducted during a ground check of actual land use. In addition, interviews were also conducted with the village head and the Public Works and Spatial Planning Office of Jombang Regency. The descriptive approach was used in order to present a real picture of the object under study. The analysis model in this research uses Geographic Information System (GIS) technology by performing overlay techniques The results of the first analysis showed that in a period of five years there was the largest increase in the area of land use of irregular sparse villages, namely 25,02 Ha and land use that experienced the largest reduction in area occurred in the use of sugar cane plantation land covering 23,50 Ha. There is also a fixed or unchanged land use of 1133,49 Ha (95,04%). Based on the results of nearest neighbor analysis, land use change in Diwek BWP is included in the random classification. Secondly, there are three classifications of land use change suitability to RDTR, namely suitable (882,05 Ha), not suitable yet (272,56 Ha), and not suitable (38 Ha). Third, potential land use change during the RDTR of Diwek BWP is made in three classifications, namely potential change according to RDTR (272,56 Ha), change not according to RDTR (38 Ha), and no potential change according to RDTR (882,05 Ha). Keywords: potential land use change, land use suitability, RDTR
