Abstract
The increase in population yearly affects the fulfillment of one of the basic human needs, namely shelter. Bungursari District is a district that in the 2020-2023 period has the highest average population growth rate in Tasikmalaya City, namely 2.34%. The increase in population is of course directly proportional to the need for housing so its availability needs to be a concern. This research aims to determine the suitability between the availability and need for land for settlements in Bungursari District, Tasikmalaya City. The research method used is quantitative descriptive with a spatial approach. Data collection techniques were done through satellite image interpretation, observation, and interviews. Land availability was obtained based on the results of spatial analysis of the 2023 land use balance, while land requirements were obtained from the results of population projections for 2023 using geometric calculations. The research results state that: (a) the area of land available for settlement in 2023 based on the land use balance is 4,376,158 m²; (b) the area of residential land required in 2033 is 1,624,900 m2; and (c) the average carrying capacity of residential land in 2033 in Bungursari District will be 2.72 or classified as high, so that the existing availability of residential land can still meet the need for residential land for the next 10 years.
