Abstract

The conversion of agricultural land to non-agricultural is a phenomenon that is rampant in various regions, including in Sukomoro District, Nganjuk Regency. Land conversion is influenced by the development of infrastructure, settlements, and industrial estates, which has an impact on the social and economic structure of the local community. The purpose of this study is to determine the pattern of land conversion in Sukomoro District and aims to determine the impact of agricultural land conversion on the socio-economic conditions of the community. This research is expected to provide a comprehensive understanding of the process of spatial transformation and its impact on the lives of local communities. The method used in this study is a mixed method approach with a quantitative approach with a descriptive spatial and qualitative approach. Data collection techniques are carried out through map overlays and interviews, to affected communities. This research is located in Sukomoro District, Nganjuk Regency. The results of the study showed that the overall pattern of land function has changed in the grouping pattern. And the results of the study show that the conversion of agricultural land has an impact on decreasing community income and changing the type of work. Most respondents stated that they experienced an economic downturn after losing farmland as their main source of income. In addition, changes in land function also cause a decrease in the intensity of communal activities such as mutual cooperation, as well as social distance between indigenous people and migrants. Communities that are able to adapt typically have access to capital or skills to open non-agricultural businesses, while vulnerable groups tend to be economically marginalized. The conclusion of this study is that the conversion of agricultural land in Sukomoro District has changes in clusters and has an impact on the socio-economic conditions of the community, especially in terms of income, employment, and social relations. The suggestion from this study is that local governments need to develop stricter land conversion control policies, as well as provide economic assistance programs and skills training for affected farmers. In addition, it is necessary to carry out participatory socialization so that the community can play an active role in the spatial planning process.
