Abstract

Land plays a strategic role in human life, encompassing economic, socio-cultural, and legal dimensions, and therefore requires formal legal recognition to ensure ownership security. Land registration is a key process in achieving this legal certainty. However, the implementation of land registration has yet to reach optimal levels, including in Condongcatur Village, Depok District, Sleman Regency despite relatively high registration rate in the area. This study aims to assess the level of community interest in registering land ownership rights and to analyze the influence of education, income, socio-cultural factors, and the role of government on that interest. The research employed a quantitative method with a descriptive approach. Data were gathered using questionnaires based on a Likert scale and analyzed through descriptive statistical techniques. The findings reveal that public interest in registering land ownership is generally high, driven by three key indicators: attention, enthusiasm, and willingness. Approximately 73.75% of respondents demonstrated significant awareness regarding the importance of land registration, with most understanding the functions, benefits, and legal implications of land certificates. Moreover, 68.75% of respondents showed a strong interest and willingness to register their land and to pay the required fees. Public willingness to dedicate time and seek assistance from local officials was also notably high, reaching 81.77%. The role of government and the level of education emerged as dominant factors encouraging land registration interest, while socio-cultural factors were found to act as constraints.
