Abstract

Pucung Village, located in Girisubo Sub-district, Gunungkidul Regency, possesses significant local economic potential, particularly in the agricultural and tourism sectors. However, these two sectors have not yet been optimally integrated into regional development, resulting in the underutilization of existing resources and limiting their contribution to improving the local economy. This study aims to analyze the optimization of local economic potential through the integration of agriculture and tourism within the framework of the Pucung Village Masterplan, identify the challenges hindering such integration, and formulate strategic recommendations to support sustainable local economic development. This research employed a qualitative method with a phenomenological approach. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, field observations, and document analysis involving village government officials, farmer groups, tourism stakeholders, community leaders, and other relevant stakeholders. The collected data were analyzed using thematic analysis, which consisted of data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The findings indicate that Pucung Village possesses considerable potential, including productive agricultural land, local agricultural commodities, karst landscapes, and natural and cultural tourism attractions that can be integrated through an agrotourism development approach. Nevertheless, the integration of the agricultural and tourism sectors continues to face several challenges, including inadequate infrastructure, limited human resource capacity, weak promotional strategies, insufficient financial support, suboptimal stakeholder coordination, and underdeveloped institutional capacity to facilitate cross-sectoral collaboration. To address these challenges, this study proposes strengthening stakeholder collaboration through the Pentahelix approach, enhancing community capacity, developing value-added agricultural products, optimizing digitalbased tourism promotion, and implementing the Pucung Village Masterplan in a participatory and sustainable manner. These strategies are expected to strengthen local economic resilience, improve community welfare, and promote sustainable rural development.
