Abstract

Temon District has experienced rapid deve lopment since the operation of Yogyakarta Internasional Airport (YIA). The presence of the airport has stimulated economic growth, population increase, and the conversion of agricultural land. These changes may exert pressure on the environment if residential development is not carried out in accordance with land capability and the prevailing spatial planning policies. Therefore, this study aims to analyze the carrying capacity of residential land in Temon District and evaluate its conformity with the Detailed Spatial Plan (RDTR) for the Airport Surrounding Area for the period 2023-2043. This study employed a quantitative method with a spatial descriptive approach based on Geographic Information Systems (GIS). The analysis was conducted using overlay and scoring techniques on physical land parameters, including slope, soil type, rainfall, protected areas, and disaster-prone areas, to indetify land suitable for residential development. Furthermore, the carrying capacity of residential land was calculated based on the availability of suistable land and per capitas land requirements. The conformity of spatial utilization was the evaluated through an overlay analysis between the residential land carrying capacity map and the RDTR spatial plan. The result indicate that Temon District has surfficient land availability to support residential needs untul the 2043 planning perio. The residential land carrying capacity falls within the category of DDP >1 (surplus), indicating that the land capacity exceeds the spatial requirements of the population. The evaluation of spatial utilization conformity reveals that most residential development for such use. Homeever, a small portion of the area was identified as unsuitable because it is located within protected areas, disaster-prone areas, or regions with limited land carrying capacity. These findings suggest that residential development in Temon Dictrict is generally consistent with the spatial planning directives, although stricter control of land utilization remains necessary to ensure environmental sustainability.
