Abstract

The construction of the 500 kV Extra High Voltage Substation (GITET) in Kalipuro Village is one of the National Strategic Projects (PSN) in the electricity sector which aims to improve the reliability of electrical energy supply. Although the land used as the GITET construction site comes from assets owned by PT Perkebunan Nusantara (PTPN) which was released through the Land Acquisition mechanism, this development has the potential to cause various impacts, especially for communities living in the western and southern parts of the development because it is the route for development activities. This study is aimed at residents who live within a 500-meter radius of the GITET construction site as the main informants, a total of 29 informants. In addition, there are 2 supporting informants addressed to the Kalipuro Village Office Staff and Land Acquisition and development Staff. This study aims to determine the social and economic impacts and describe the responses and forms of adaptation carried out by the community during the GITET construction project. This study uses a descriptive qualitative method. Data were collected through semi-interviews, field observations, and document review. The data were analyzed using data collection, transcription, coding, categorization, reduction, data presentation, verification, data validity and conclusion drawing techniques. The findings show that GITET construction generated uneven social and economiceffects among residents living near the project area. Based on these impacts, community responses and adaptations emerged during construction activities. Keywords: GITET, social impact, economic impact, responses, and adaptation.
