Abstract

Land-use conversion around Cengklik Reservoir continues to occur due to the growth of settlements, economic activities, and tourism development. To address this issue, the government has implemented spatial utilization control socialization as one of the instruments for spatial control. This study aims to analyze the influence of spatial utilization control socialization on land-use conversion in Senting, Sobokerto, and Ngargorejo Villages, Boyolali Regency. The study employed a mixed-methods approach with a sequential explanatory design. Quantitative data were collected through questionnaires distributed to local communities and analyzed using simple linear regression, while qualitative data were obtained through semi-structured interviews and spatial analysis of land-cover changes in 2015, 2020, and 2025. The results indicate that spatial utilization control socialization has a positive and significant influence on land-use conversion. Qualitative findings reveal that socialization activities have been implemented in all study villages and have contributed to improving community understanding of spatial utilization. However, land-use conversion continues to occur due to other factors, including population growth, economic development, infrastructure availability, increasing land values, and limited supervision and follow-up after socialization activities. Therefore, effective control of land-use conversion requires continuous monitoring and stronger inter-agency coordination.
