Abstract
Land is a vital livelihood asset that plays a crucial role in supporting the well-being of rural communities. However, inequalities in land tenure and ownership, as well as livelihood vulnerabilities, remain challenges faced by the community of Semoyo Village. This study aims to analyze the conditions of land control, ownership, use, and utilization (P4T), identify livelihood assets and the context of community vulnerability, and formulate sustainable livelihood strategies based on the Sustainable Livelihood Framework (SLF). This study employs a Mixed-method with a descriptive approach. Informants were selected through purposive and snowball techniques, involving community members, village officials of Semoyo Village, and staff from the Gunungkidul Regency Land Office. Data were collected through interviews, observations, and document analysis. The research results indicate that land tenure and ownership in Semoyo Village are dominated by individual ownership rights at 59.02%, most of which were acquired through inheritance. The distribution of land tenure in Semoyo Village shows a high level of inequality with a Gini Index value of 0.56. Land use is dominated by mixed gardens at 36.19%, while land utilization is dominated by perennial crops at 37.71%. Natural and social assets are the community’s primary strengths, while human and physical assets are relatively adequate but still require improvement in education and infrastructure, and financial assets remain weak due to low and unstable income. The most dominant livelihood strategies in Semoyo Village are dual-income strategies and survival strategies for sustaining livelihoods. Strengthening the management of livelihood assets and the productive use of land is necessary to enhance community resilience and well-being in a sustainable manner.
