Abstract

Rowo Jombor Reservoir in Krakitan Village, Bayat Subdistrict, Klaten Regency was originally built to control flooding and to provide irrigation water, fisheries, and tourism activities. As sedimentation occurred and caused shallowing that disrupted the reservoir's function, the local government together with the Bengawan Solo River Basin Agency (BBWS Bengawan Solo) carried out a revitalization program starting in 2021 through sediment dredging, embankment and pedestrian pathway arrangement, and the relocation of floating restaurants and restriction of floating net cages. This study aims to analyze the economic impact of the Rowo Jombor Reservoir revitalization on the surrounding community in Krakitan Village, as well as the obstacles and problems faced by related institutions and the affected community. This study employs a qualitative method with a descriptive approach. The results show that the revitalization of Rowo Jombor Reservoir has an economic impact on the surrounding community. The economic impact is reflected in the increased income of all business informants, with the highest increase occurring in the floating boat rental business at 233.33% and the lowest increase in the fishing supplies store at 20%, as well as the development of various types of business activities such as culinary, tourism services, grocery stores, and fishing equipment stores. In addition, the implementation of the revitalization also faced social obstacles in the form of community concerns about losing their livelihoods, technical obstacles in the form of road damage caused by project vehicle activities, and institutional obstacles in the form of the complexity of coordination among institutions with different authorities.
