Abstract

The construction of the South Cross Road (JJLS) segment of the Kabanaran Bridge in Poncosari Village, Srandakan District, Bantul Regency, and Banaran Village, Galur District, Kulon Progo Regency, has the potential to impact the physical, social, and economic conditions, as well as land values in the surrounding areas. This study aims to determine the characteristics of the impacts of the JJLS construction segment of the Kabanaran Bridge and the environmental factors influencing them. This study used a mixed methods sequential exploratory approach with a spatial approach. Data were collected through field observations, interviews with village/sub- district officials, and questionnaires from 39 respondents selected using cluster random sampling in six regional clusters based on distance from the Kabanaran Bridge. Data were then analyzed using paired sample t-tests to characterize the impacts and multiple linear regression to identify the environmental factors influencing them. The research results indicate that the construction of the Kabanaran Bridge Segment of the JJLS has resulted in physical impacts in the form of changes in land use covering 475.15 ha over a three-year period (2022–2025) and increased regional accessibility. Social and economic impacts were also proven significant (Sig. = 0.000); while the impact on land values was significant at the 95% confidence level (Sig. = 0.050) but unevenly distributed, influenced by, among other factors, the dominant status of Sultan Ground and Village Treasury Land. The environmental factors studied were proven to be the most consistent influence on social impacts, moderately influencing some physical and economic impacts, but insufficient to explain the dynamics of land supply and demand.
